description Schodack Island State Park sits off the eastern shore of the Hudson River just south of Albany. Approximately seven miles of Hudson River and Schodack Creek shoreline bound the 1,052-acre site. The park has been designated a State Estuary, and a portion of the park shelters a Bird Conservation Area (BCA) that is home to bald eagles, cerulean warblers and blue herons that nest in the cottonwood trees. Eight miles of multi-use trails wind through a variety of ecological communities. In addition, the park has an improved bike trail, volleyball nets, horseshoe and a kayak/canoe launch site.

importantInformation To insure fairness for all NY customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 9-month Maximum Window cannot be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made. Reminder of General Park Rules: Children under 10 years of age shall at all times be under the supervision of a parent, guardian or responsible custodian. (18 years or older) There is a 2-night minimum for camping reservations. Glass containers, alcoholic beverages and pets are not allowed on the beach. All boats and canoes are required to have lifejackets (PFD`s) for each person. Please do not swim from any boats. You must be 21 years of age to possess or consume alcoholic beverages. An alcohol permit is required for large amounts of alcohol. Please obtain a permit at the park office. Only 2 pets per site are permitted. Current rabies certificate required. Pets must be on a leash no longer than 6ft at all times. Please clean up after your dog as a courtesy to others. This is a Carry in-Carry out NYS park. Please take home your picnicking litter and dispose of it properly. What to do in the park: Camping - The park has 66 campsites available. Sites 1- 43 offer 50 amp electric. This includes a (220 volt) 50 amp and 30 amp outlet, and a (110 volt) 20amp Ground Fault outlet. Sites 44 - 66 are non-electric campsites. None of the campsites offer a waterview. Small Boats, canoes and kayaks have a special launch area. Large Boats - There is no marina at the campground, however they do have a small dry boat slip area; for rental information, please contact the park. Picnicking - Family picnic areas consist of grills, picnic tables and comfort stations; no reservations required. There are 3 group picnic shelters available; to reserve please call the park office. Peak Season: During peak season, a camping party and their equipment may occupy a site for a maximum of 14 continuous days. After which, the camping party and equipment must leave the site and facility for 2 days before registering again for another site.
